Storyboard planning

When planning a story board, you must make sure it is easy to follow and shows every clip you want to include in your final cut. You must also make sure that you can easily write a dialogue to go with it.

An important thing to remember is to all ways number each shot. This helps with filming and also editing.  Each clip can be numbered 1,2,3 but if you are showing the same clip with a type of movement or change then using numbers 1a, 1b, 1c is efficient as it also shows there are all different parts of one shot rather then a different shot completely. It can be used in action shots, for example a punch.

Showing movement is important and can be done by simply using arrows.
If you had a picture of a person and you wanted to show they would be walking, you would draw an arrow next to them pointing the way they would be walking.

To show the zoom affect is being used on an object or someones face you would draw that object or face with arrows pointing inwards or have the object or face surrounded by lines going from the face or object outwards. Alternatively, you could use the 1a,1b,1c system and draw the full face or object and label it 1a then draw the face or object closer and label this 1b. You would then keep doing this in till you had the look of the correct amount of zoom you wanted drawn onto your storyboard.
