A lot of well know films, even those created by the most famous film companies can have continuity errors. This may be where shots have been edited together if a bad order or an actor has put down a prop in one shot from one angle but picked it up again and when it is shot from a different angle, they may not have done the same movement. These can be a easy mistake to make. There are many reasons to why and how these are made.
This image shows a mistake in a famous film The Matrix. The error hear may of been two takes of the same scene were shot but the gun was placed in a different place in each shot.
This next image was taken from a second very well know film Twilight. The tubing, as pointed out, is placed in a different place in each shot. This may of been a simple movement error or once again different positioning between filming one scene to the next. I have watched this film including this shot and did not notice it. This goes to show that some differences in shots are very subtle and may not be noticed.
This is a third example of errors using props. Unlike the other two images this is not where a prop has been moved slightly but where a prop is added. This may become more noticeable to someone watching as it makes shot look a lot different as it is not that subtle. Also the focus may be on the cake, it may even be the topic of conversation between charterers to the viewers eye is drawn to that prop. This means the error would be easily noticed.
